It's ServiceNow Delta season! And for some reason I've connected the 1973 college comedy Animal House and the word "Delta". If you haven't seen the movie, it's an American classic. I highly recommend it, arguably John Belushi's best work!

But I digress! I've had a few of you reach out to me for tips! It seems the Tokyo Delta has been especially tricky! So here's my personal survival guide:

It's Open Book

Just a helpful reminder that the exam is open book. Unlike mainline certifications, this isn't proctored. You can use any resource available to you! I'm linking a few down below. Have them open on your machine as you take the exam. Let's admit, it's probably the best use of dual monitors you've had in awhile! CTRL (CMD) + F is your friend. So is Google; "ServiceNow Tokyo _______".

Use the Release Notes

The purpose of Deltas is to make sure you have a passing understanding of the new features in a given ServiceNow release. If you want to get a passing understanding of new features, the release notes should be your first stop. And again, our old friend CTRL (CMD) + F becomes invaluable here. Here's another helpful tip: You can download the release notes as a PDF and search them that way too!

Don't forget, community articles and non-ServiceNow blogs are amazing, but they aren't an official source (even this one 😲). Trust the docs site, the answers are there!

A Helpful Hint for Tokyo - The JavaScript Engine

One of the newest features in Tokyo is the introduction of the ECMAScript 2021 (ES12) standard. There's a whole new paradigm for developing scripts here, but you really just need to know the high level information. That's where this link comes into play! It's a GREAT overview of everything that's been implemented with regard to JavaScript in the Tokyo release. Hint: Make sure you study the modes, it's VERY important!

Take a deep breath, relax, we'll all get through this. Deadline to complete is February 17th, 2023!
