No, the ad he was referring to was for 400 acres or so in Arlington, which is maybe 20 miles N of Thomasville headed up hwy 5 towards Selma. My grandparents are from there (Arlington). If I had $4k lying around I'd love to have it.

Arlington is in Wilcox county about 5 miles from Marengo county. Clarke is a good little piece south of Arlington. I was given hunting rights to a 260ac parcel over tht way this year i have not seen anything yet that would make me think its worth $10 acre! The property i have has not been hunted in 3yrs and has 3 2ac fields on it and i have only got 2 decent bucks on camera and maybe a 10 deer total! I donyt hear of much being killed over in that part of the county that very big.

Go look at the one that Joe at Nelson Plumbing(Camden) killed over there last year. In years past thats where the big boys in Wilcox county came from. The old Flatwood hunting club and a few more.

Joe hunts 10 miles away from Arlington on a friends of ours land. It is across the road from flatwood hc, but not near Arlington. Arlington is 10+ miles from the river and its not black belt soil like it is Millers Ferry and Prairie. Clarke county is a good little piece south of Arlington. There are not many big deer killed in Arlington or Pine Hill. 10 miles is a huge distance when talking about Wilcox County. Ive lived and hunted here my whole life and i know what area are good and what are not so good. Thats not to say you cant kill big deer anywhere in the county but there are places that i think hunters pay way more than they should on a lease. Its the same way in Dallas and Marengo counties!

The area where Joe kills his deer is one of the best spots in the county though. $10,000 a year hunting club it ought to be!! Also a friend of mine killed one of the largest deer ever killed on the FHC year ago, it was only a 8pt but scored like 148". I killed a 10pt that scored 145" a couple of years ago on property thats next to FHC and across the road from where Joe hunts. Great Area!

He killed it i think in 1996 and its in the alabama record books and it was on the Flatwoods. I didnt mean it was the biggest deer taken from flatwoods i said one of the biggest and 10+ deer over 160" i doubt that right, maybe, but i find that hard to believe. I know a lot of members that have been in the club for over 20 yrs and ive never heard them talk about near boone and crockett deer taken there. I could be wrong you know more about the club than i do, but i know they've never been officailly scored or recorded and ive never seen a pic of anything over 160" from there. I do understand that most deer in this area dont get recorded, we killed a 180" 2yrs ago and i doubt the kid recorded him. Anyway i know there are great deer on FW's and im sure back before it was all one giant pine platation there were more large bucks just like it was everywhere else in the county. You are in a good area over there, my buddy runs Shell creek, i hunt the Fendley land next to yall and i deer and duck hunt with the Henderson's a good bit so i know the area. I shoot dove's across the street from you on Marks place every year but dont deer hunt there. That area is a long way from Arlington and thats all i was saying.

Yeah i ment years ago. There are a lot of big deer that dont get scored around here. I know the state is working on a new records book and they are trying to get people to report their old kills. I wish the chamber of commerce would get something started around here and get some of these recorded. People would be amazed at whats killed over here and in marengo,dallas,perry, and hale counties. I know of a booner thats mounted in a gas station in coy.

Speaking of the hendersons, what are they up to? Is SJ still alive? Tim? Baine? Little Baine? I cut my teeth hunting there a few times with a buddy of mine. That was some pretty land and some big deer were on that place. I could listen to the stories they told for days, and later I found out most of them were true! I had heard they sold a lot of their land, don't know if it's true. On the way to our place in Clarke/Wilcox county I pass the turn off to their place and every single time think about that family and those stories.

Yeah they are all alive even Tommy! They sold most of their land in Hamburg but not in Millers Ferry. Tim is a deacon in a church now and is living near Selma. SJ,Little BAin,and Tommy in Millers Ferry and Big Bain died several yrs ago.

Sad to hear about Mr Bain, but I figured he had. I know a lot of people didn't care for them, but for some reason they always took a liking to me. I don't really know why-I always treated them with the same respect I do everybody else, and i never had a problem with them. Tommy was one crazy dude, as you probably WELL know! How old is little Bain now, the few times I was there, he was probably 6 or 7 but following right on the henderson blood line. You don't by chance know Tommy Trailer (sp?) do you? He lives more towards Sardis. I swore they had to be related someway somehow. I have a weird way of meeting some interesting characters if you didnt figure that out!
